Undertow Publications will be offering a very unique ‘Skein and Bone’ bundle. Limited to 50. A trade paperback of Victoria Leslie’s ‘Skein and Bone,’ a one-of-a-kind linocut illustration, and a special bookmark with a skein of red thread.
The linocut prints (or bookplates) will be quite unique. It’s a hand-drawn design by Victoria that she cut into a sheet of linoleum using a small chisel. This ‘plate’ is inked up and run through a 1892 Albion printing press. Victoria repeated this process 50 times, so though printmakers strive for uniformity, there are tiny, slight differences in each one. The uniqueness is that each image has been individually printed, which is why the process is so time consuming. Here is a picture of the prints drying. These will be signed and numbered. Will have ordering info soon.
The whalebone petticoat, the spindle, and the book, are all references from the collection.
