Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from Shadows & Tall Trees.
It’s been a good year here at Undertow Publications. Many thanks for all your support.
Issue 5 was published in May this year to very good reviews. Indeed, one tale, D.P. Watt’s ‘Laudate Dominum (for many voices),’ has already been selected for inclusion in the inaugural Best British Horror 2014. I’m hopeful, of course, we’ll see some other tales included in annual ‘Year’s Best’ anthologies. Stories from issues 3 and 4 were reprinted this year in ‘Best Of’ anthologies. Robert Shearman’s ‘Bedtime Stories For Yasmin’ was reprinted in both The Best British Stories 2013, and The Year’s Best Dark Fantasy & Horror 2013. As well, Stephen Bacon’s ‘None So Blind’ and Gary McMahon’s ‘Kill All Monsters’ were reprinted in The Best Horror of the Year, Vol. 5, and Ray Cluley’s ‘Night Fishing’ was reprinted in Wilde Stories 2013: The Best Gay Speculative Fiction.
2014 will see significant growth for Undertow Publications.
Volume 6 of Shadows & Tall Trees, to be published May 2014, sees the journal move to an annual trade-paperback anthology, bigger and better than ever. (One hopes). In August of 2014 I will be publishing the inaugural Year’s Best Weird Fiction. This annual anthology will feature a different guest editor each year. The first volume will be edited by Laird Barron.
The other big news is that Undertow Publications is now an imprint of ChiZine Publications. All Undertow books will be distributed through ChiZine’s global distribution channels and will feature in their catalogue.
So, 2014 promises to be a very exciting year for Undertow Publications. Our growth is due in no small part to your continued support. Thank you very much for making 2013 a banner year for Undertow Publications.
Best Wishes and Happy Holidays to you all!
