Shadows & Tall Trees is the flagship publication of Undertow Publications (UP), a small press based near Toronto, Canada. In 2010 the journal was a finalist for the British Fantasy Award for Best Periodical/Magazine. In 2009, to much acclaim, we published Apparitions, an anthology of ghost stories. Apparitions was a finalist for the Shirley Jackson Award.

Michael Kelly is a Shirley Jackson Award and British Fantasy Award Nominee.
He is the author of two short story collections, Scratching the Surface, and Undertow and Other Laments, as well as co-author of the novel Ouroboros. His fiction has appeared widely in anthologies and journals, including All Hallows, Best New Horror, Carlton Arts Review, Dark Arts, Darkside 5, Electric Velocipede, Flesh & Blood, The Hint Fiction Anthology, The Literary Journal, Murmurations, Northern Horror, Plum Ruby Review, PostScripts, Space & Time, Supernatural Tales, and Tesseracts 13.
Michael was a fiction editor at ChiZine (2004 – 2007), and has edited 3 anthologies: Apparitions, Chilling Tales, and Songs From Dead Singers.
